About Community Volunteering
Launched in 2021, Community Volunteers is a national pilot programme supporting local events, festivals, and urgent community needs across Ireland. The programme was created to encourage people to become more involved in their local communities while providing practical support where it is needed most.
Community Volunteers Programme is flexible, welcoming, and open to people from all backgrounds and experiences.
People Behind Community Volunteering and Benefits
Louth Community Volunteers are people who care about their local area and want to make a positive impact. They come from different backgrounds, age groups, and experiences, but all share a common goal - helping their community thrive.
For many people, volunteering becomes much more than simply giving time. It becomes a place to connect, grow, and feel part of something meaningful.
As Kayleigh, Manager at Louth Volunteer Centre, explains:
“The benefits of the programme are all around friendship, teamwork, building skills and confidence. Maybe you need to practise your English and get involved, get to know your local community, and be part of a super team of volunteers here in County Louth.”
That sense of belonging is what makes Community Volunteers Programme special. Whether someone is new to the area, hoping to meet people, build confidence, or simply give back, the programme creates opportunities for genuine connection and shared experiences.
