Blankets of Care knitting and crochet group resumes weekly sessions in Dundalk

Louth Volunteer Centre's Blankets of Care group is resuming weekly sessions, meeting every Wednesday at 11am in Creative Spark, Clontygora Court, Dundalk.

The group brings people together to knit and crochet blankets that are donated to worthy causes across County Louth. Last year, members donated almost 150 blankets to local organisations and causes in need.

Beyond the craft itself, Blankets of Care is as much about connection as it is about knitting and crochet. Sessions offer a relaxed, sociable space where people can meet others, share skills, and enjoy a cup of tea together while contributing to something worthwhile for the wider community.

The group is open to everyone, regardless of experience — from complete beginners to experienced knitters and crocheters. Louth Volunteer Centre is also looking for a volunteer crochet tutor to join the group and help share skills with newer members.

Kayleigh Mulligan, Manager at Louth Volunteer Centre, said:

“Blankets of Care means so much more than the blankets themselves. It brings people together every week, gives them a reason to get out and meet others, and lets them see the direct, tangible difference their time makes to someone else's life. We'd love to welcome new members — and if there's anyone out there with crochet skills willing to share them as a volunteer tutor, we'd really love to hear from you.”
