Ardee Youth DARTS

Supporting young people to grow, compete, and thrive through darts

Ardee Youth DARTS works with young people aged 7 to 18, providing coaching, guidance, and a supportive environment where they can develop their skills in the sport of darts. The organisation supports young players to progress to local, national, and international competition, while also helping them build confidence, character, and a strong sense of belonging.

Darts does not always receive the same recognition as more mainstream sports, but at Ardee Youth DARTS, young people are given the opportunity to discover their potential in an inclusive and welcoming setting. For many, it is a space where they feel supported, valued, and encouraged to grow.

Volunteers at the heart of everything

Volunteers are central to the success of Ardee Youth DARTS. They take on a variety of roles, including coaches, committee members, and mentors, supporting young people both on and off the board. Their commitment ensures that every child has access to guidance, encouragement, and positive role models.

Not every young person finds their place in traditional sports. Volunteers help make darts a supportive alternative, creating an environment where all young people can develop skills, confidence, and resilience. The achievements of Ardee Youth DARTS, including national successes and trophies, are a direct result of the dedication and passion of its volunteers.

Making a real impact in the community

The impact of volunteering at Ardee Youth DARTS is evident in the progress and achievements of its young members. Through volunteer support, several players have competed at local and national level, with opportunities emerging to represent their country internationally.

Two young members recently travelled to England to compete in tournaments, with hopes of competing in Gibraltar in the future. These experiences have been transformative, boosting confidence and showing young people what is possible when they are supported to reach their potential. Beyond competition, volunteers play a vital role in developing strong character, sportsmanship, and respect.

Why volunteering matters

Volunteering at Ardee Youth DARTS has a lasting impact on young people. Many arrive shy or unsure of themselves and, through the encouragement and consistency of volunteers, grow into confident and motivated individuals. These experiences are particularly important during formative years.

The organisation is built on principles of best practice, fair play, and respect, values that are upheld daily by its volunteers. One simple motto captures this approach:
“We always start and finish a game with a handshake.”

Through their time, commitment, and belief in young people, volunteers make Ardee Youth DARTS what it is today — a supportive space where young members can grow socially, travel, compete, and feel part of a wider sporting community.
